Subjects Taught
You'll learn how to build a Joomla website, from content and user organization, to working with extensions and templates. This class uses the latest version of Joomla, but questions on all versions are welcome.
- Part 1: Introduction to Joomla answering key questions: What? Who? When? Why? Which version?
- Part 2: Navigating the Joomla interface
- Part 3: Setting up and organizing Joomla content
- Part 4: Adding content articles with formatting and text
- Part 5: Choosing and using with Joomla components
- Part 6: Choosing and using Joomla modules and plugins
- Part 7: Choosing and using Joomla templates
- Part 8: Building a full Joomla site so that students can practice everything that they have learned during the class
Pre-Requisites
There are no pre-requisites for the beginner class. We assume that all students in our beginner classes start with no Joomla experience.

Class Trainer

J.R. Maroney has been in the I.T. industry for over fifteen years, both as a programmer and I.T. manager. As Project Manager overseeing several multi-million dollar ERP system implementations for the Toyota Group, North America, he has a vast understanding of I.T. systems from conception through implementation. J.R. has been active in the open source community for the last four years, developing websites using Drupal, Joomla, and other open source software. He enjoys welcoming new members to the open source community and has an excellent rapport with all of his students.

- Schedule: We run Joomla classes in Washington D.C. every three months: February, May, August and November.
